Two of the biggest threats facing swell apes are Ebola together with chocolate. Since the 1990's Ebola has killed 33% of the world’s gorilla together with chimpanzee populations. The other major threat to swell ape populations is the loss of their natural habitat. In Africa the chimpanzee has lost one-half of its master copy range. Part of this loss is due to illegal cocoa farms.
